Daily dinner

Usually at dinnertime Pandora eats with Zowie, but today she nosed in on my dish, so I got to eat with Zowie instead.

We're very lucky kitties as we get canned food twice a day. Mum feeds us in the morning and when she gets home from work. We also have a couple bowls of our dry food, but the canned food is so delicious!

After dinner, Zowie likes to race around the house. I've joined her doing that, and we sometimes take turns. We also like to occasionally play hide and seek. Pandora likes to sit on the windowsill and look out, or she snuggles in Mum's sweater.

Brush twice a day

Here I am getting brushed by Mum. She brushes me when she gets home from work and again before she gets ready for bed. She says there's enough fur to make another cat!

Shedding and shedding...

Mum's having to wash my fuzzy blanket on the bed almost every other day. I'm shedding a LOT. But it does mean that she brushes me at least twice a day, maybe more. I like getting brushed. Except of course when the brush takes a little bit too much hair with it.

Mancat Monday

This is my sticking-out-my-tongue face, though I blinked when Mum used the flash.

Sister Sunday

Last night I gave Zowie a couple licks while she was asleep - she was making noises like she was having a bad dream - and she woke up and hissed at me. I guess I must have startled her. Mum had a good laugh at that as she was reading her book in bed. Pandora didn't even notice because she was curled up sleeping next to Mum.

TGIF

Mum has a pretty bad headache tonight, so tonight's post is going to be photo heavy. These are some fun photos she took over the last couple of days.

Here I am hiding in the sheets that she wants to put into the washing machine:

Here is Zowie almost-sleeping on the cushion on the sofa. Sometimes she lets me sleep on it.

And here is Pandora in one of the MEOW beds that mum got last weekend.

Toes Tuesday?

Mum can't get a very good photo of my toes, because I won't let her. But here's one of me stretching out my arm for her. It's close!

In other news, the tiling is finally done, and I won't have to be in my safe room anymore. Hurrah! Mum is moving my litter box back to where it should be, and the pagoda house will be out in the main room soon too.

Mancat Monday

The birds are chirping, it's nice and sunny out... and I was back in my safe room today. Not because I'd been bad, but because mum's landlady was coming over to rip out the kitchen and bathroom linoleum and replace it with tile. So all us kitties had to stay out of the way. Mum said she was mostly worried that one of us would get outside by accident. She made sure my pagoda house was in the room, and my food, and water, and my honeysuckle. My sisters got to stay in her bedroom, and I'm sure they had very much the same. Mum says tomorrow I'll be in the room again, but that will be the last day.

Sister Sunday

Today's a day for photos of my sisters, because I do get to post an awful lot of photos of myself, but not very many photos of them.

Here they are as kittens, curled up on the heating vent:

And here they are with mum:

Pandora's also really cuddly:

And Zowie likes the warmth of the lamp:

Honeysuckle!

Mum went to the Pet Expo today and she bought me some honeysuckle slices from the ladies at the MEOW booth. She also tells me that they are all really happy that I have found a good home. It sounds like a lot of them are very fond of me, and I remember getting lots of love in the shelter when I was there.

Hello to all the lovely MEOW volunteers! You're great!

(Mum also tells me that she bought each of us a MEOW bed. Pandora has already tried one out, and Mum thinks that they must smell like catnip or something because she was rolling all over it and chewing on it. And Zowie likes honeysuckle too, but she didn't spend as much time with her slice as I did with mine.)

I'm officially adopted!

Today the girl, or should I say, my new mum, got the final papers for my adoption. The MEOW Foundation does a 'Foster to Adopt' program where adopters get to foster their chosen cat for a month.

The picture on today's entry is the photo that MEOW took for their website. I have my eyes closed here because I had surgery on my eyes. The cubby-hole I'm in was my favourite spot at the shelter. It was a little too small for me so my arms and head always stuck out, but it was sure cosy.

My mum tells me that she might help MEOW by fostering a cat, but that she's going to wait for a few months until I get really well settled in, and Zowie and Pandora have stopped hissing at me.

A video

The girl took a bit of video footage of me playing with a mouse. I was actually playing with Zowie (we were taking turns) but before the girl could find her camera, Zowie had decided that she didn't want to play anymore. But the girl is really happy that we are starting to play together, even if Zowie does still hiss at me if I get too close!

Mancat Monday

Another Mancat Monday!
The girl gets the day off from work today, so it's nice and peaceful around the house. Someone called a 'census taker' rang the doorbell and disturbed me from my nap this morning though. I'm not very fond of the doorbell.

Today's photo is my new profile picture.

Sleepy Sunday

Happy Easter to everyone!

The girl is pretty sleepy today because she didn't get a very good sleep last night. Zowie and I weren't getting along very well at bedtime as Zowie wasn't letting me get up on the bed, and then the girl woke up in the middle of the night with an upset tummy. She says that maybe her dinner was too rich from the cream. I don't see how that could be bad because cream is really yummy, but maybe human tummies aren't as good about it as cat tummies.

The girl has also been tidying up my room, and she moved the nice big pagoda house out into the main room, so I think I am going to get to stay out all the time now. My litter box is still in the room though, and I think she's not moving everything at once so I can get used to it.

She took a few photos of me inside the pagoda with her good camera yesterday. Pandora likes to sleep in the pagoda too, so we'll have to figure out how to share it.

Sleeping with the family

Last night the girl let me stay out of my room, and I got to sleep on the bed with everyone. It was pretty nice, even though Pandora and Zowie did growl at me a little bit. But I stayed at the end of the bed on the fuzzy blanket and they didn't mind that so much. They like to sleep up right by the girl. I know I'm really big and need more space, so the end of the bed suits me just fine.

I get to be out of my room again tonight, and the girl tells me that if it works out all this weekend, then I won't have to be in the room at all anymore.

The girl also got a photo of my sitting in my pagoda house, so I thought I would post it. I've shed lots of fur all over it to show everyone that it's where I like to be. I don't look very happy in that photo, but I'd just woken up from a nap and was still kinda sleepy.

Also, before I go to bed I wanted to say hi to all the kitties and kitty-parents that have been commenting. The girl and I really like reading all your nice comments! :)

Thankful Thursday

The outdoors is very scary. There's lots of sounds and smells and I'm not sure that I like it very much at all. I was so scared that I didn't even want to eat some of the Temptations treats that the girl had brought with her. (I rarely get that scared.)

The harness fits though, and I don't mind wearing it. The girl had a tough time finding one big enough for me, but the pet shop she went to had one labeled 'extra-large' and she made sure to measure it before she bought it.

I am thankful that I didn't have to be outside very long, and glad that the girl was so nice to buy me a harness. Maybe I just need a bit of practice being outside without having to worry about scary things.

Zowie and I had a few swatting spats already this evening. I hope we can all relax now. Pandora is tucked into the girl's sweater, sleeping. She likes to do that a lot.

Wow, I'm big!

The girl just measured me because she told me she was going to go buy me a harness and leash so I can go outside. I'm 14" round the neck, and about 21" round my middle. I think that's because I don't really have much neck as my cheeks are so big.

I can't wait to go outside! I've never worn a harness before. I wonder if I'll like it?

Mancat Monday

I'd almost forgotten that today was Mancat Monday!

The girl went to work today (she was feeling better) so I was stuck in my room again all day. It's kinda dull, though I do have a nice big scratching post where I can look out the window. It also has a little pagoda hut where I can sleep. The girl hasn't managed to get a photo of me there yet, because I always hop out before she can do it.

As the girl had to throw away my honeysuckle, I've been following her around all evening instead. I hope she'll play with me after dinner with one of the ribbons.

The Fine Felines had a post today about the many faces of a Mancat, so I thought I would show a picture of me looking really cute. I'm laying against the girl's leg, trying to get her to pet me some more.

Swatting Sunday

Zowie and I had a bit of a row this morning. She was on the scratching post and I wanted to get up there so I could look outside. She wouldn't let me, and we swatted at each other. The girl was a bit surprised, but I decided to back down and wait until Zowie was gone before I tried to get up there again. Zowie didn't take it too personally, because later on we both relaxed on the girl's bed in the sun. Pandora came up a bit later too, but the girl wasn't able to get a photo of that.

The girl played with me a bit this afternoon too - she got out a nice big pink ribbon for me to chase around. She's figured out that I really like ribbons. I also like honeysuckle wood, and I hope she buys some more, because the wood I had was getting splintered and she had to take it away. I think that honeysuckle is better than catnip!

Vet visit all done.

Pandora came back from the vet and everything is just fine. She gets to start getting gel on her teeth every day though. I wonder if the girl will do that to me too? Probably. It might be a daily ritual for all us cats, but if it works to keep our teeth healthy, it's worth it.

The girl left me out of my room while she was gone with Pandora, and Zowie and I hung out on the girl's bed while she was gone. I don't think I'll get to be out all night yet though.

The Elusive Mancat Belleh

Hallo, it's Alys (aka 'the girl') here. Percy's toddled off to bed in his room, and before he went, I was able to take a couple quick mobile phone photos of his belleh. But, shhh... don't tell him! ;)

Lazy Friday

The girl was home today from work as she wasn't feeling well, but the net result is that I was out and roaming the flat all day. I am also getting on a bit better with Pandora and Zowie, although it is definitely Pandora who is still hissing a lot at me. Zowie seems to be not so bothered anymore.

The girl snuck up and took a photo of us this afternoon, as you can see.

Happy Friday to everyone, and hope you have a good weekend! I hear that Pandora gets to go to the v-e-t tomorrow, because she had dental surgery a couple weeks ago and needs to get her teeth looked at. I bet she's not going to be happy about that. The girl tells me that she's actually quite a good kitty at the vet, unlike her sister, who hisses and fusses. I'm not really too fond of the vet myself, so I hope I won't have to go for a long time.

Checking out the world

This afternoon I took a bit of time to check out the world from the front window. The girl lives in a lower suite, so her front window is nearly level with the ground outside. This gives me a good view of the front lawn (covered with snow, still) and the birds in the bushes.

Pandora was up on the window ledge too, but she wasn't very happy to see me up there. I wasn't crowding her, but I guess she's just sensitive. She is coming closer to me now than she was before, and her sister Zowie is too. They're still hissing and growling at me though. I hope they'll realize that I'm just wanting to hang out and be friends.

The girl took photos of me looking out the window, and sitting on the scratching post. I think they're quite good actually. She tells me that it's tough to photograph a black cat.
