I wouldn't let her take that photo

The girl tried to take a photo of me lying on my back sleeping. I told her there was no way we were going to ruin my burly tough-guy image with a photo like that. I promptly rolled over so she couldn't photograph my tummy. She was a bit disappointed, but I have this feeling that she'll be keeping a camera handy for the next time. This photo is as close as she got.

The not fun part of today was getting drops put in my eyes. The girl said it was because the vet said that we need to be careful of infection, but I sure wasn't happy with the drops. I'm afraid I scratched her, but I didn't really mean to. I hope I don't have to have drops for a long time.

Great new photo!

The lovely kitties and mum over at have made a nice photo montage of me. What a great treat on a snowy Sunday afternoon! (click on it for a bigger version)

Once I figure out how to add it to my sidebar, I will! (can anyone point me to a tutorial?)

Greetings to my visitors!

The girl told me this morning that I'd had a lot of visitors overnight, and I was so surprised, and very happy. I want to say hello to all my new friends on the cat blogosphere ( today.

And, to answer some of the queries, because I haven't really told my story yet...

I was trapped in north Calgary by a very friendly woman who thought I was a feral cat. I wasn't, but I had what they call 'entropic' eye problems, so I couldn't see very well, and that made me really nervous and skittish. Once I got to the shelter at the MEOW Foundation, the lovely people there took me to a vet, and the vet operated on my eyes. Now I can see properly, and as soon as I could see, the MEOW folks realized that I wasn't feral at all, but actually quite a nice kitty. I stayed at the shelter for about a month and a half, which is a lot less than a lot of other kitties there.

There was another kitty that came in around the same time as me that had the same eye problems, named Imani, and I am happy to see that he has found himself a home too! He's a big boy like me, but he's mostly grey with a white chest, very regal looking. He's a bit younger than I am though, because I am almost five, and he is only one.

I also wanted to post a photo or two of my new sisters. Pandora is the red tabby, and Zowie is the dilute tortie. They're a lot smaller than me, probably half my size. I think they're partly scared of me because I'm so much bigger than they are.

Quiet week too.

I wonder if this house is always this quiet. I don't mind too much, but sometimes it seems too quiet. The girl does play with me though - she's figured out that I like ribbons and long strings better than toy mice.

Pandora and Zowie are still not too fond of me I'm afraid. I'm not trying to keep out of their way, but I'm not approaching them too much. I do quite like eating from their food dish as their food is different from mine. The girl has noticed that I'm eating more of their food than my own these days.

Quiet weekend

Not much happened in this house on the weekend, but that's okay. The girl was busy baking stuff in the kitchen, and I did get some time out of my room and in the main part of the house.

Today I am hanging out in the house with my two sisters, although I don't think they have been all that keen to see me. A bit of hissing and growling at me, so I keep my distance. I did have a nice doze on the sofa with Zowie (the greyish tortie) hanging out on the cat post nearby. I think she likes to be higher up than me.

The other kitty, the red tabby that I hear the girl call Pandora, spent most of her time on a kitchen chair again. I hope she'll want to be friends.

I'm going to try not biting the girl's toes tonight; I did yesterday because I didn't want her to leave me in the room at night, but I don't think she liked it very much.

I met my new sisters

The girl let me out into the living room this afternoon for a little bit, and I was surprised to see the two other kitties there. They didn't come up to greet me, but stayed on their chairs and watched. The girl had some treats, so I decided it was best to follow her in the hopes of getting a few.

The red tabby left the room after a few minutes, but the greyish one stayed to watch. I didn't get to be out long, but it was nice to lie in the sun for awhile.

Lucky me!

The girl let me out this evening, and I got to sleep on the sofa for awhile. It was lovely.

Percy the Explorer

Today's expedition involved the big scratching post that sits by the front window. It was all covered in interesting cat smells from my new sisters. The girl brought out one of them to see me, but she was startled and hissed when I meowed hello. I suppose we'll have to work on that a bit.

Earlier this morning I got to meet the girl's mum, who was very taken with me. It was rather flattering, and I did lay on the charm. Seems that rubbing against legs and purring always works with the ladies.

Living Room Part II

I was let out of my room again this afternoon, this time for longer. One of the other cats hissed at me from under the bedroom door, but that's okay. I had a proper wander around the living room. Found a piece of honeysuckle wood and licked that for a little while.

Then the girl decided to put me into a kennel, and let the other kitties out. Well, the one kitty was scared (probably more of the kennel than anything) and the other kitty - the greyish one - stayed a cautious distance away. And me, I wasn't very pleased to be in the kennel, even with treats. It keeps reminding me of going to the vet. Yeuch!

Freed! (for a little while)

Today after the girl got home from work and fed her other two kitties, she let me come out of my room and into the main area of the house. Strangely, the other two kitties were not to be found, but there were a couple closed doors, so I bet that's where they were. I suppose I don't get to meet them just yet.

I had a good wander, although everything was pretty strange. Lots of wood floors, and they're a bit chilly on my toeses.

The girl gave me my wet food, and then I was back in my room. I hope she'll let me out again soon.

The second photo

The girl took more photos of me, and I think this one is the best so far.

My new home

I found my new home yesterday. I was a kitty staying at the shelter run by the MEOW Foundation in Calgary (, who took care of me, gave me my shots and made sure I was okay.

Now I live with a patient and quiet girl who plys me with Temptations treats, and there are two other kitties that I haven't met yet. The girl says that I can meet them in a few days, because even though I am really friendly and would love to play, they need some time to get used to my scent. They've hardly ever lived with any other kitties, so they're not used to having anyone else around. Plus I am a lot bigger than they are, so maybe they'd be scared.

I only have one photo so far, but it was nighttime and I was still nervous, so I didn't want to come out from my hiding spot.
