This photo is a bit dark, but it shows how I often sit with my block of honeysuckle. I use it as a rest for my elbows (do cats have elbows?) and also sometimes as a pillow for my head if I am lying on the floor. Honeysuckle has many uses!

Mum forgot about Mancat Monday...
...but we'll post today instead!

This photo is a bit dark, but it shows how I often sit with my block of honeysuckle. I use it as a rest for my elbows (do cats have elbows?) and also sometimes as a pillow for my head if I am lying on the floor. Honeysuckle has many uses!

Sister Sunday: The Effect of Honeysuckle (Part 3)
For today's post, we're going to put up a video of Zowie with her honeysuckle piece. I think this video is funny because you can also see me in the background with the big piece of honeysuckle. This big piece has become one that all us kitties have to share. Mum has been letting us have it every evening, but putting it away before bedtime so we don't swat each other over it at night.

The Effect of Honeysuckle (Part 2)
This is a video of my sister Pandora with the honeysuckle. She really loves it too! (not all the time, but last night she really did.)

The Effect of Honeysuckle (Part 1)
Mum bought a nice big new piece of honeysuckle from the Cat House today, and she filmed us cats with it. Well, me anyway. And Pandora. Zowie preferred to have a smaller piece. Today's video will be of me with the honeysuckle, and mum said she'll show videos of Pandora and Zowie on the weekend. In this video you can see just how much I LOVE honeysuckle!

All About Honeysuckle
There have been lots of questions about honeysuckle on the blog as I love it so very much, and it seems to be more of a local fascination.
As mum and I mentioned in a previous post, the local store 'The Cat House' (click for their site) seems to have been the start of all this honeysuckle stuff. They have a great video interview from a local TV station (RealMedia format - .rm - click here to watch) and it explains a LOT.
The honeysuckle that they use at The Cat House is called "Lonicera Tatarica". I don't know what that means, but mum says it is the Latin name. Mum thinks that mummies and daddies with honeysuckle in their yards already could probably just try cutting a branch and cutting it into slices for their kitties. She does say that kitty mums and dads need to make sure that us kitties don't chew on it too much because it can sometimes break off little bits. (I like to chew on mine, but because I have such big teef, I break it if I'm not careful.)
I like honeysuckle best when I've been able to lick it and the smell comes out from the wood better when it is wet. Sometimes mum wets the wood a bit for me first.
Now, for those kitties who don't have real honeysuckle bushes nearby, The Cat House does do mail order, as far as mum knows. And according to an article on their website, it is just fine and legal for people to import it to the USA from Canada.
I hope that helps all you kitties and kitty parents! Mum says you can email us if you need to know more info and she'll help out as best she can.

The vet, litter boxes, and honeysuckle!
Here's another picture of me with the new fountain.
Pandora (and also Zowie) are back from the v-e-t. Mum says that the v-e-t is going to send some samples for testing, and that we should know very early next week if Pandora and Zowie have any parasites or anything. In the meantime, they both got de-worming medicine just in case.
Mum has been busy today! After the v-e-t, she went and bought me a nice new big litter box! My other one was fine, but it was a bit on the snug side because I'm so big. I also tended to kick litter out the door and onto the floor, so mum figured that a big, jumbo box would be good for me. The new box is very nice - it is green and grey, and it is much bigger than my old one.
And you know the best part?? Mum bought me a BIG stick of honeysuckle! It's such a big stick that I can grip it between all my paws! Mum also wants me to tell everyone that the shop she gets her honeysuckle at is called The Cat House. She says that they have a website - thecathouseinc.com, and that they apparently do mail order. So maybe some of you other kitties can ask your mums and daddies to buy you some. The small pieces are $1, and bigger pieces (up to really big logs) are more. Mum saw a really big log for $15, but she didn't get it for me this time.

Honeysuckle!

Mum went to the Pet Expo today and she bought me some honeysuckle slices from the ladies at the MEOW booth. She also tells me that they are all really happy that I have found a good home. It sounds like a lot of them are very fond of me, and I remember getting lots of love in the shelter when I was there.
Hello to all the lovely MEOW volunteers! You're great!

(Mum also tells me that she bought each of us a MEOW bed. Pandora has already tried one out, and Mum thinks that they must smell like catnip or something because she was rolling all over it and chewing on it. And Zowie likes honeysuckle too, but she didn't spend as much time with her slice as I did with mine.)

Swatting Sunday

Zowie and I had a bit of a row this morning. She was on the scratching post and I wanted to get up there so I could look outside. She wouldn't let me, and we swatted at each other. The girl was a bit surprised, but I decided to back down and wait until Zowie was gone before I tried to get up there again. Zowie didn't take it too personally, because later on we both relaxed on the girl's bed in the sun. Pandora came up a bit later too, but the girl wasn't able to get a photo of that.
The girl played with me a bit this afternoon too - she got out a nice big pink ribbon for me to chase around. She's figured out that I really like ribbons. I also like honeysuckle wood, and I hope she buys some more, because the wood I had was getting splintered and she had to take it away. I think that honeysuckle is better than catnip!
